Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Ashton-under-Lyne Home

Whether you live in a Victorian terrace, an inter-war semi, or a family home on the edge of the Pennines, your kitchen is designed specifically for your space, not adapted from something built for a different kind of house.

Designed Around Your Home

Designing a kitchen well starts with the room itself. How the light falls, how you move through the space, how it connects to the rest of your home. Layout and proportions come first. Once those decisions are right, everything else follows from them. Style, finishes, and detail all come later, and they come from the space, not from a catalogue.

Ashton-under-Lyne has a strong stock of Victorian terraces, inter-war semis, and established family homes. Each brings its own proportions, ceiling heights, and structural quirks. A kitchen that works in one will not simply work in another. Your design begins with the architecture you actually have, not a floor plan drawn for a different kind of house entirely.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot be moved: these things are resolved during the design process, not on the day your kitchen is fitted. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension has been accounted for. Nothing is improvised on site because something was not fully thought through at the drawing stage.

Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs your kitchen understands exactly how it will be made, because both happen under the same roof.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built to the exact dimensions of your room. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves the workshop, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. It also means that what arrives at your home is already a finished kitchen, ready to go into place.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the doors and worktops you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, and interior fittings are all specified and finished to the same level as the visible surfaces. The parts you rarely look at are built to the same standard as the ones you do. That consistency is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over years of daily use.

Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not constrained by standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual cabinet width, a run of units beneath a sloping ceiling, or something specific to your layout, we design and build it exactly as required. You can read more about how we approach quality and manufacturing on that page.

Your Ashton-under-Lyne Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress updates. There are no handoffs between contractors, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds the project from beginning to end.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity matters in practice, especially when your room has unusual proportions or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your drawings for the first time. How we work is built around that joined-up approach throughout.

Ashton-under-Lyne homes cover a range of periods and property types. A Victorian terrace kitchen presents a different set of starting conditions to an inter-war semi or a newer family home. Your project is treated on its own terms, designed around what your specific house actually has, not adjusted to fit a standard programme that was written for a different kind of space.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything goes into production. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no last-minute adjustments on site to compensate for things that were not fully resolved during the design and planning stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you design kitchens specifically for older properties like Victorian terraces?

Yes, and it is something we deal with regularly across Ashton-under-Lyne. Older properties come with their own set of conditions: uneven walls, chimney breasts, non-standard ceiling heights, alcoves, and layouts that were not designed with modern kitchens in mind. All of that is worked through during the design process. By the time anything is manufactured, every dimension reflects the actual room, not an assumed one.

What happens at the first design consultation?

We come to your home and look at the space properly. It is a practical conversation, not a presentation. We want to understand how you use your kitchen, what works in the current layout, what does not, and what you want from the new one. From there we can start to build a picture of what the right design looks like for your specific home.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

It varies considerably, and that is not an evasion. The range reflects real differences in room size, the complexity of the layout, your choice of materials, worktops, appliances, and how much storage detail the design involves. A modest kitchen in a smaller room will sit at a different level to a large family kitchen with an island, high-specification worktops, and integrated appliances throughout. What we can say is that a bespoke kitchen from Mastercraft is a considered investment, one designed to last and to add real value to your home. The best way to understand what your project is likely to cost is to have a conversation about your specific room and what you are hoping to achieve.

How long does the whole process take from first conversation to installation?

Timescales vary depending on the complexity of your project and our current schedule, but as a general guide you should allow several months from initial design through to installation being complete. We will be clear with you about lead times from the outset so you can plan around them. There is no benefit in rushing the design or manufacturing stages, and we do not.

Can you handle rooms with unusual features or awkward layouts?

That is exactly where a bespoke approach makes the most difference. If your kitchen has a sloping ceiling, an alcove, a chimney breast, or proportions that make standard units unworkable, we design and build around those things directly. Nothing is a standard size unless your room happens to require it. Everything is made to fit your specific space.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes, and having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly valuable in that situation. When a kitchen is part of a wider building project, the kitchen design often needs to respond to decisions being made elsewhere, structural changes, new openings, updated floor levels. Because we manage the whole process ourselves, we can work alongside your builder or architect and adjust as the project develops, without the delays and miscommunications that come from coordinating separate suppliers.

What kitchen styles do you offer?

We do not work from a fixed range of styles. That said, we design across the full spectrum, from classic shaker kitchens that suit period properties particularly well, through to handleless kitchens and contemporary designs. The style is chosen in conversation with you, based on your home, your taste, and what will sit well in the space. Nothing is picked from a catalogue.

Where are your kitchens manufactured?

In our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is built to the specific dimensions of your room, factory assembled before it leaves, and delivered ready to install. We do not buy in units from a third-party supplier and fit them. The manufacturing is ours, which means we control the quality at every stage.

Do you supply and fit appliances as well?

Yes. Appliances are specified as part of the design process so that everything integrates properly. We can advise on what suits your kitchen and your usage, and the appliances are fitted as part of the installation. You do not need to source them separately or coordinate a separate engineer.

Who carries out the installation?

Our own installation team. The same people who have been involved throughout the project. They understand the design, they know how the kitchen was built, and they are not arriving on site cold. That makes a practical difference, particularly in a room with specific features or unusual conditions.

Do I need to have a clear idea of what I want before getting in touch?

No. Most people come to us with a general sense that they want a better kitchen, not a fully formed brief. The design process is where the detail gets worked out. If you have images or ideas you have collected, bring them. If you do not, we start from the room and the conversation. Either way, the design emerges from your home, not from a mood board.

Do you work across the wider area around Ashton-under-Lyne?

Yes. We work across east Greater Manchester and the surrounding towns. If you are based in Ashton-under-Lyne or nearby, we cover your area. Get in touch and we can confirm straightaway.
