Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Tavistock Home

Your kitchen needs to be designed properly for your home. Not adapted from a standard range, not adjusted as it goes, but planned from the room itself, so everything works as it should once it is in place. From design through to installation, the whole project sits with one team.

Designed Around Your Home

If you are planning a new kitchen in your home in Tavistock, the starting point is always the room itself. The shape, the light, the way you move through it. Everything follows from that.

Homes in Tavistock vary more than most people expect. A Georgian townhouse behaves very differently to a stone cottage or a newer extension on the edge of the moor. Your kitchen is designed from scratch around your room, not adapted from something created for a different kind of home.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, uneven walls, sloping ceilings: these are resolved at the design stage. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension has already been accounted for.

The same team that designs your kitchen understands exactly how it will be built and fitted. So when it arrives, it already fits the way the room has been planned. That is what one team throughout actually means in practice.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly means tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish than anything built from a kit in your kitchen.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you do not see are what determine how well your kitchen holds up over years of use.

Because your kitchen is made by the same team that designed it, nothing is constrained by catalogue sizes or standard configurations. If your room needs an unusual width, a run beneath a sloping ceiling, or a specific detail that only makes sense in your space, it is designed and built exactly that way. Your room sets the brief, not the other way around.

One Team, from Design to Installation

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one process, one team. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress. There are no handoffs, no gaps in responsibility.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The people who build it know what was designed and why. That continuity matters, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. No one arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time. You can read more about how that process works here.

A stone cottage near the town centre, a Georgian townhouse on Bedford Square, a home on the moorland edge: each one starts from a different place. Your project is treated on its own terms. Nothing is pressed into a standard programme that was drawn up for a different kind of house in a different kind of town.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not fully thought through at the design stage. That work has already been done.

Why People in Tavistock Choose Mastercraft

A kitchen at this level is not just about how it looks. It is about whether it has been thought through properly from the start, and carried through without compromise. Your kitchen is designed from scratch around your room, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team that designed and made it. There is no showroom model you are being fitted into. The design begins with your home, your space, and what needs to work in it. That is how every project runs, and it is why the kitchens hold up the way they do.

Design, manufacturing and installation all sit with one team, so nothing is lost between stages.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a bespoke kitchen project take from start to finish?

Most kitchens take around three to five months from the initial design consultation through to the end of installation. The design stage typically takes four to six weeks, depending on how involved your room is and how many revisions are needed. Manufacturing takes around eight to ten weeks. Installation in most homes takes one to two weeks. If your project is part of a wider renovation or building work, we factor that into the programme from the start.

What happens at the first consultation?

We come to your home, look at the room properly, and talk through how you use it, what is not working at the moment, and what you want from the new kitchen. It is a straightforward conversation in your space, not a sales presentation. We take measurements and get a clear picture of what the project involves before anything else happens.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

It depends on the size of the room, the materials you choose, the appliances, and how much storage detail is involved. A smaller kitchen with a focused brief might start from around £20,000 to £25,000 fully installed. A larger kitchen with more complex cabinetry, premium worktops and integrated appliances will be considerably more. The honest answer is that bespoke kitchens vary widely because every project is genuinely different. What we can tell you is that everything is priced clearly once your design is drawn up, so you know exactly what you are committing to before any work begins.

Can you work with difficult rooms, awkward layouts or unusual features?

That is exactly the kind of room a bespoke approach is built for. Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, uneven walls, low beams: all of these are resolved at the design stage. Because we manufacture your cabinetry ourselves, we are not constrained by standard sizes. If your room has an unusual configuration, we design and build around it.

What kitchen styles do you offer?

Because every kitchen is designed from scratch, there is no fixed range to choose from. That said, some styles suit certain homes particularly well. In-frame cabinetry works well in older properties and period homes. Shaker styles suit a wide range of homes across Tavistock. Handleless designs suit cleaner, more contemporary spaces. The starting point is always your home and what feels right for it, and we work through the options with you during the design process.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes, and having design and manufacturing handled by one team is particularly useful when a kitchen is part of a wider building project. We can work alongside your architect or builder, and because we control the manufacturing ourselves, we can be precise about lead times and delivery. There is no second-guessing what the finished space will look like, because the kitchen has been designed specifically for the room as it will be, not as it was.

How is the cabinetry actually made?

Every cabinet is built in our own UK workshop and arrives at your home fully assembled, not as flat-pack components. Factory assembly means tighter joins, more consistent tolerances, and a better finish overall. The cabinetry is made to the exact dimensions of your room, so there are no gaps to fill or panels to trim on site.

Who handles the installation?

Our own installation team, not a subcontracted crew. The people who fit your kitchen understand how it was designed and how it was built. By the time they arrive on site, everything has been resolved. They are not working anything out as they go.

Do I need to manage other trades myself?

No. The project sits with Mastercraft throughout. If other trades are needed, such as electrical or plumbing work connected to the kitchen, that is coordinated as part of the project. You have one point of contact and one team responsible for the outcome.

How precise are the measurements, and when are they taken?

We take detailed measurements of your room before any manufacturing begins. Walls in older properties are rarely straight, floors are rarely level, and corners are rarely square. All of that is accounted for before your cabinetry is built. Nothing is manufactured from approximate dimensions.

Can I see examples of kitchens you have designed for similar homes?

Yes. During your consultation we can walk you through previous projects that are relevant to your home and your brief. Stone cottages, period townhouses, larger rural properties: we have worked across all of them. You can also browse examples in our journal to get a sense of the range of work.

How do I get started?

The first step is a conversation in your home. We come to you, look at the room, and talk through the project. From there, we put together an initial design proposal based on what we have seen and discussed. There is no pressure to commit at any stage before you are ready.
