Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Kendal Home

If you are thinking about a new kitchen in Kendal, this is where it starts, with your home, your room, and how you actually use it.

Designed Around Your Home

Designing a kitchen well begins with the room itself. How the light comes in, where the natural circulation is, how the space connects to the rest of the house. Those things shape the layout before anything else is decided. Proportions and flow come first. Visual decisions, materials, colours, details, follow from that foundation.

Kendal homes cover a wide range of building types. A limestone townhouse in the centre of town has a very different set of proportions to a farmhouse on the Lake District fringe or a detached family home outside town. Each has its own starting point. Your kitchen is designed to sit within your architecture, not applied over it, and not drawn for a different kind of building.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot be moved, these are worked through at the design stage. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is fully accounted for. Nothing is left to be resolved on installation day, and nothing arrives that does not fit the room it was made for.

Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be made and fitted, because they are part of the same team that carries it through.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves the workshop, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish than anything built from a kit inside your home on the day of installation.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. What you cannot see is built to the same standard as what you can. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over the years.

Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual width, a run of cabinetry beneath a sloping ceiling, or something specific to how your space is arranged, we design and build it exactly as required. The workshop makes it possible.

Your Kitchen Project, Managed from Start to Finish

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation, one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress between contractors. There are no handoffs, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because the same team holds it throughout.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time and working out what to do with them.

Kendal homes come with their own starting points. A limestone townhouse, a rural farmhouse, a detached family home, a property on the Lake District fringe, each has its own layout, its own structural quirks, its own character. Your project is approached on its own terms, not adjusted to fit a programme drawn up for a different kind of house.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for measurements that were estimated rather than taken properly, and no surprises on the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the whole process take from first conversation to finished kitchen?

It varies depending on the complexity of your kitchen and how much design work is involved, but as a general guide you should allow several months from initial consultation through to installation. We will give you a clear timeline once we understand your project, and we keep you informed at every stage.

What happens at the first consultation?

We come to your home and look at the space properly. It is a practical conversation, we talk through how you use the room, what is and is not working, and what you want from your new kitchen. We take in the layout, the light, the architecture, and anything that will shape the design. No pressure, no presentation. Just a straightforward starting point.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

Bespoke kitchens vary considerably because every project is different. The size of your room, the materials you choose, the appliances you want, and the level of storage detail all affect the final figure. As a broad guide, most Mastercraft kitchens represent a significant investment, this is not the right choice if you are looking for the lowest possible price. It is the right choice if you want a kitchen designed and built specifically for your home, made to last, and installed by the same team that designed it. We will give you an accurate picture of cost once we understand your project properly.

My kitchen has some awkward features, a low ceiling on one side, an alcove, an old chimney breast. Can you work with that?

Yes, and those kinds of features are exactly what a bespoke approach is for. We design around what is actually in your room. Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, structural walls, all of that is resolved at the design stage, so everything is fully accounted for before manufacturing begins.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes. If your kitchen is part of a wider building project, an extension, a reconfiguration, a full renovation, having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful. We can work alongside your architect or builder, and because we control the design and production process ourselves, we can respond accurately when dimensions change or the project develops during the build. You are not relying on a showroom that needs to re-order from a supplier every time something shifts.

What styles of kitchen do you design?

We design across a wide range of styles, from clean, contemporary kitchens to more traditional designs that suit older properties. Because everything is made in our own workshop, we are not limited to what is available in a catalogue. The style of your kitchen comes from your home and what suits it, not from a collection we happen to stock.

How is my kitchen actually made?

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is built rigid and fully assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components brought to your home and assembled on site. This produces a more precise, more consistent result. Your kitchen is made to the exact measurements of your room, so when installation begins, everything is ready to fit.

Who installs the kitchen, is it the same team?

Yes. The installation is carried out by our own team, the same people who have been involved throughout the process. Nobody arrives on site unfamiliar with your project. They know what was designed, how it was built, and exactly what the finished kitchen should look like.

Do you supply appliances as well as cabinetry?

Yes. We can source and supply appliances as part of your project, and your designer will factor them into the kitchen design from the start. Whether you have appliances in mind already or want guidance on what would work best in your space, we can work either way.

How precise are the measurements you work to?

We measure your room precisely before anything is manufactured. Every dimension is taken properly, and the cabinetry is made to those exact measurements. This is what makes it possible for everything to arrive on installation day ready to fit, without on-site adjustments or last-minute compromises.

I am based just outside Kendal, do you still cover my area?

Yes. We work across Kendal and the surrounding area, including rural properties on the Lake District fringe and homes in nearby towns such as Windermere, Penrith and Carlisle. If you are not sure whether we cover your location, just get in touch and we will confirm straightaway.

How do I get started?

The easiest way is to get in touch and arrange a consultation. We come to your home, look at the room, and have a straightforward conversation about your project. There is no obligation at that stage, it is simply the right way to begin, and it means everything that follows is based on your actual space.
