Designed Around Your Home

Designing a kitchen well starts with the room. How the light comes in, how you move through the space, how it connects to the rest of your house. Those things shape the layout before any visual decisions are made. Get the proportions right first and everything else follows more naturally.

Hucknall has a varied mix of housing. Inter-war semis, Victorian terraces, larger family homes, each with its own proportions and its own set of constraints. The architecture of your home is the starting point for your kitchen design. We work within it, not against it. Your kitchen should feel like it belongs to the house.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, walls that cannot move, ceilings that slope at the back of a run: these are resolved at the design stage. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is fixed and accounted for. Nothing is left to be worked around on the day installation starts.

Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be made and what the finished result needs to achieve in your home.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves the workshop, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish than anything constructed in your kitchen from a kit.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you never look at are built to the same standard as the ones you do. That consistency is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over the years.

Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual cabinet width, a run that sits beneath a sloping ceiling, or something specific to your layout, we design and build it exactly as required. Nothing is forced to fit a size that does not belong in your room.

Your Hucknall Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating trades or chasing progress updates. There are no handoffs between separate contractors, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds it from beginning to end.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, particularly when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time and working out how to interpret them.

Hucknall homes range from compact Victorian terraces to more generous inter-war semis and larger family houses. Each brings a different starting point. Your project is treated on its own terms, not fitted into a standard programme designed around a different kind of property entirely.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured carefully before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for details that were not properly resolved at the design stage.

Begin Your Kitchen Design

If you are thinking about a new kitchen in Hucknall, the best place to start is a conversation. There is no pressure and no obligation. Just a practical discussion about your home and what you are hoping to achieve. We are easy to reach and happy to answer questions before anything else happens.

A design consultation means we come to you, look at your space properly, and talk through what your kitchen could become. We look at how the room sits, what is possible, and what would work best. From there, the design process begins at your pace and on your terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work in Hucknall specifically, or only in larger nearby towns?

We work across the whole area, including Hucknall and the surrounding towns. We also cover Nottingham, Kirkby in Ashfield, Eastwood and many other locations as part of our wider Midlands coverage. Where you are does not affect the process or the service you receive.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

It varies considerably, and that variation is genuine rather than vague. The size of your room, the materials you choose, the appliances, and the level of storage detail all have a significant effect on the overall figure. A straightforward project in a modest space will cost less than a large kitchen with extensive cabinetry and high-specification finishes. What we can say is that our kitchens represent a serious investment in your home, and they are built to reflect that. The best way to get an accurate sense of what your project might cost is to have a conversation with us about your specific room and what you want from it.

How long does the whole process take, from first conversation to installation?

Timescales vary depending on the complexity of your project and our current schedule, but most projects run from initial consultation through to installation over several months. Design and approval, manufacturing, and installation each take time when done properly. We will give you a realistic picture of the timeline at the outset so you can plan around it.

What happens at the first design consultation?

We come to your home and spend time looking at the space properly. We talk through how you use your kitchen, what is working and what is not, and what you want from the new one. We take measurements and note any features of the room that will shape the design. It is a practical conversation, not a sales visit. There is no obligation at that stage.

My kitchen has an awkward layout with a chimney breast and uneven walls. Can you design around that?

Yes, and this is exactly the kind of situation where a bespoke approach makes a real difference. Features like chimney breasts, alcoves, and walls that are not perfectly square are resolved at the design stage. Every cabinet is drawn and built to fit your room as it actually is. Nothing is approximated or left to be dealt with on installation day.

What kitchen styles do you offer?

We do not work from a fixed catalogue. The style of your kitchen is shaped by what suits your home and what you want from the space. In practical terms, this means we can design and build shaker-style kitchens, handleless kitchens, in-frame kitchens, and everything in between. The starting point is always your room and your taste, not a brochure page.

Where is my kitchen actually made?

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is built specifically for your home, rigid and factory assembled before it leaves. We do not use a third-party manufacturer or source from overseas suppliers. Because we make everything ourselves, we have full control over the quality and dimensions throughout.

Do you handle the full installation, or do I need to arrange other trades separately?

We handle the installation of your kitchen. For associated work such as plumbing, electrics, or structural changes, we can advise you on how to coordinate those trades or work alongside your existing contractor. We will be clear at the start of your project about exactly what is included and how everything fits together.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes. If your kitchen is part of a wider renovation or a new extension, having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful. We can work alongside your architect or builder and adapt as the project develops. Because we make your kitchen ourselves, adjustments to dimensions or layout are much easier to accommodate than they would be with a supplier who works from fixed catalogue sizes. The earlier we are involved in a larger project, the smoother that process tends to be.

Can I choose my own appliances, or do you supply them as part of the project?

We can supply appliances as part of your project, and we work with a range of well-regarded brands. If you have appliances you already own or a particular brand you want to use, we design your cabinetry around them. Either way, the appliance choices are built into the design from the start so everything is properly integrated.

How do I know the finished kitchen will look like what was designed?

Because the same team designs it, builds it, and installs it, there is no room for misinterpretation between stages. You will see detailed drawings before manufacturing begins and have the opportunity to review and confirm everything. Any questions or adjustments are resolved before production starts, not discovered on installation day.

How do I get started?

The simplest step is to get in touch and have an initial conversation. You can tell us a little about your home, your kitchen, and what you are hoping to achieve. If it sounds like a good fit, we arrange a visit to your home and go from there. There is no commitment at that stage, just a straightforward conversation about your project.
