Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Dowlais Home

Your kitchen needs to be designed properly for your home. Not adapted from a standard range, not adjusted as things progress, but planned from the room itself, so everything works as it should once it is in place. The same team handles design, manufacturing and installation, so nothing gets lost between one stage and the next.

Designed Around Your Home

If you are planning a new kitchen in your home in Dowlais, the starting point is always the room itself. The dimensions, the light, the way you move through the space. That is what the design has to answer to first.

Homes in Dowlais vary more than most people expect. A stone farmhouse sits very differently to a valley terrace or a newer build on the edge of town. Each one has its own proportions, its own quirks. Your kitchen is designed from scratch around your room, not borrowed from a layout that was drawn up for a different kind of home.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings: these are resolved at the design stage, not on the day of installation. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension has already been worked out. There are no surprises when the kitchen arrives.

The person who designs your kitchen understands exactly how it will be made. That means when it arrives in your home, it already fits the way the room was planned. One team, carrying the same understanding from start to finish.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and fully assembled before it leaves the factory, not flat-pack components put together on site. That process produces a more consistent finish and tighter tolerances than anything assembled from a kit in your kitchen.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you never look at are built to the same quality as the ones you do. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over years of use.

Because your kitchen is made to order in our own workshop, standard sizes and catalogue configurations do not apply. If your room needs an unusual width, a run that follows a sloping ceiling, or a configuration that simply does not exist in any range, it is designed and built exactly as your space requires. Your room sets the brief, not the other way around.

One Team, from Design to Installation

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one process, handled by the same team. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress between different contractors.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, particularly when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. No one arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time.

Dowlais homes bring their own starting points. A stone farmhouse has different demands to a valley home or a recently extended semi. Each project is worked out on its own terms, from its own room, its own layout. Nothing is adjusted to fit a standard programme that was drawn up for a different kind of house entirely.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no adjustments being made on site to compensate for things that were not fully resolved at the design stage. It has all been considered long before the first cabinet comes through your door. You can read more about how we work if you want a clearer picture of the process from start to finish.

Why People in Dowlais Choose Mastercraft

A kitchen at this level is not just about how it looks. It is about whether it has been thought through properly from the start, and carried through without compromise. Your kitchen is designed from scratch around your room, not taken from a showroom floor and adjusted to fit. It is made in our own UK workshop, by the same team who designed it, and installed by people who know exactly what was planned and why. There is one point of responsibility throughout, which means nothing falls through the gaps between design, manufacturing and installation. The result is a kitchen that has been considered as a whole, built to last, and put together by people who were involved from the very first conversation. You can see more about our kitchen design approach and styles to get a sense of what that looks like in practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the whole process take, from first conversation to finished kitchen?

Most kitchens take around three to five months from design to installation, depending on how involved the project is. A straightforward kitchen in a clear room will move faster than a project with a more complex layout, a wider range of materials, or work happening alongside a broader renovation. At your initial consultation we can give you a more specific indication based on your home and what you have in mind.

What happens at the first consultation?

We come to your home. That is the starting point. We look at the room properly, take note of how it sits, what the natural light does, how you move through the space, and what is and is not working at the moment. We talk through what you want the kitchen to do and how the design could answer that. Nothing is measured in detail at this stage. It is a conversation first, so we both understand what the project involves before anything moves forward.

Can you work with unusual rooms, awkward layouts or older properties?

Yes, and it is often where bespoke design makes the biggest difference. Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, rooms that are not square, properties where nothing sits at a standard height or width: all of these are resolved at the design stage. Because your kitchen is made specifically for your room, there is no need to work around what a standard range can and cannot accommodate.

What kitchen styles do you offer?

There is no fixed range to choose from in the way you might expect. The style of your kitchen is decided through the design process, based on your home, your taste, and what suits the character of the space. That said, many of our kitchens fall into broad categories: shaker, in-frame and handleless are among the most common. Door profiles, finishes, colours and materials are all chosen around your project specifically.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

There is no single figure that applies across all projects, and it would not be honest to give you one. The cost of a bespoke kitchen depends on the size of the room, the materials chosen, the level of storage detail, the appliances specified, and how complex the installation is. As a starting point, most projects at this level sit in a range that reflects the design time, the quality of materials, and the fact that everything is made to order for your home. It is a significant investment, and the right way to think about it is in terms of how long it will last and how well it will work, rather than comparing it to a fitted kitchen from a retail chain. Once we have seen your room and understood what you have in mind, we can give you a clear and honest picture of what your project is likely to involve.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes, and having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful when a kitchen is part of a wider building project. When an extension is being built or a ground floor is being reconfigured, the kitchen layout needs to be resolved alongside the build, not after it. Because we design and manufacture everything ourselves, we can work closely with your builder or architect from an early stage, making sure the kitchen and the structure it sits within are planned together properly, rather than one being adjusted to accommodate the other.

How is your cabinetry made, and why does it matter?

Every cabinet is built rigid and fully assembled in our own UK workshop before it leaves for your home. This is not flat-pack furniture assembled on site. Factory assembly produces a more accurate, more consistent result, and the finished cabinet is structurally stronger than one put together from components in your kitchen. The tolerances are tighter, which matters when your cabinetry needs to fit precisely within a room that has been measured and designed around specific dimensions.

Who carries out the installation, and are they part of your team?

Installation is carried out by our own team, not subcontracted out. The people installing your kitchen are familiar with how it has been designed and built. They are not seeing the plans for the first time when they arrive. Everything has been worked out in advance, so the installation process is straightforward and planned, not improvised.

Will the same people be involved throughout, from design to installation?

Yes. Design, manufacturing and installation all sit within one team at Mastercraft. The designer who works with you understands how the kitchen will be made. The workshop knows what was designed and why. The installers know exactly what is arriving and how it fits together. That continuity matters practically, especially when your room has specific features that need to be carried through accurately from design to the finished kitchen.

Do you handle the project management, or do I need to coordinate things myself?

Everything sits with us. You do not need to coordinate between a designer, a separate manufacturer and a fitting team. There is one point of contact throughout, and the project moves forward as a single managed process. If your kitchen is part of a wider renovation involving other trades, we can work alongside them and coordinate our programme accordingly.

Can you work with specific materials or finishes I already have in mind?

Absolutely. If you have already settled on a particular worktop material, a paint colour, or a specific door finish, we design around that. If you are starting with less certainty and want guidance on what would suit your home, we work through that with you as part of the design process. Either way, the materials are chosen for your project specifically, not selected from a limited palette of available options.

We are in Dowlais. Is that within your working area?

Yes. We work regularly across Dowlais and the wider Merthyr Tydfil area, as well as surrounding towns and villages throughout South Wales. Distance does not affect the quality of the process. We come to you for the consultation, and the same team manages your project through to installation wherever your home is.
