A bespoke kitchen design for a Macclesfield home by Mastercraft Kitchens
Designed Around Your Home
Designing a kitchen well starts with the room. Before any visual decisions are made, we look at how the space sits in your home, the light at different times of day, how you move through it, what connects to it. Layout and proportions are worked out first. Everything else follows from that.
Macclesfield has a wide mix of property types. Victorian stone terraces and semis, larger detacheds on the edge of town, rural properties with views toward the Pennines, converted mill buildings with their own distinct proportions. Each one brings a different starting point. Your kitchen is designed to sit within the architecture of your home, not applied over it.
Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot move, these are resolved at the design stage, not discovered on installation day. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is confirmed and every constraint is accounted for. Nothing is left to be improvised once work starts.
Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be made and what needs to be true before installation begins.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last
Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built to the exact dimensions of your room. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. What arrives at your home is a finished kitchen, not a kit waiting to be constructed.
The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts that are most visible. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings, all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. The components you rarely see are built to the same standard as the ones you use every day. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over time.
Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not constrained by standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual run width, cabinetry beneath a sloping ceiling, or a solution specific to your space, we design and build it to exactly those requirements. The workshop produces what your room needs, not the closest available alternative.
Your Macclesfield Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish
From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating between separate trades or chasing progress updates. There are no handoffs between contractors, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds it throughout.
The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a practical difference, particularly when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time and working out what to do next.
Victorian stone properties, rural edge houses, converted mill buildings, larger detacheds, each one brings its own starting point and its own set of challenges. Your project is treated on its own terms, not adjusted to fit a standard programme drawn up for a different kind of home. The process is shaped around what your room actually is.
Your cabinetry is manufactured to the precise dimensions of your room, measured carefully before anything goes into production. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not fully resolved at the design stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a bespoke kitchen project take from first conversation to installation?
It varies depending on the complexity of the design and the size of the kitchen, but as a general guide you should allow several months from initial consultation to installation. The design stage takes time to get right, manufacturing follows once everything is confirmed, and installation is scheduled from there. We give you clear timescales at the outset so you can plan around them.
What happens at the first design consultation?
We come to your home, look at the space, and talk through what you want from the kitchen. We are interested in how you use the room, what is not working about the current setup, and what the space could become. It is a practical conversation, not a sales meeting. There is no obligation at that stage.
What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?
Bespoke kitchens vary considerably, and the honest answer is that the cost depends on the size of the room, the materials you choose, the appliances you want, and how much storage and internal fitting is involved. A straightforward kitchen in a smaller room will cost significantly less than a large, fully fitted kitchen with high-specification materials throughout. What we can say is that most projects at Mastercraft sit in the range where you are making a serious, long-term investment in your home. When you get in touch, we can give you a clearer picture once we understand your space and what you have in mind.
Can you work with rooms that have unusual features, alcoves, chimney breasts, low ceilings?
Yes, and those are exactly the kinds of rooms where a bespoke approach makes the most difference. Standard kitchens do not accommodate unusual geometry well. Because we design and build specifically for your room, features like alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, or awkward corners are resolved at the design stage and built into the cabinetry. Nothing is worked around on the day.
Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?
Yes. If your kitchen is part of a wider building project, an extension, a reconfiguration, or a larger renovation, having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful. We can work alongside your architect or builder from an early stage, so the kitchen design is fully coordinated with the wider project before anything is built. There are no late surprises about what the kitchen needs from the structure, and no late changes to what the structure needs from the kitchen.
What styles of kitchen do you design?
We do not work from a catalogue of fixed styles. The design is shaped by your home, your taste, and how you use the space. That might mean something that sits in keeping with the character of a Victorian property, or a cleaner, more contemporary approach in a converted building or a modern extension. We design to the brief, not to a style template.
How are the cabinets made, and where?
Every cabinet is made in our own UK workshop and arrives at your home fully assembled as a rigid unit. We do not use flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly gives tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish, and it means the installation process is straightforward because everything has been properly made before it arrives.
Who carries out the installation?
Our own installation team. The same business that designs and manufactures your kitchen installs it. There are no separate contractors involved. The people fitting your kitchen understand how it was designed and how it was built, which makes a practical difference, especially in a room with specific constraints or unusual features.
Can I be involved in the design process as it develops?
Yes, and that involvement is part of how the process works. The design develops through conversations with you. We want to understand how you use your kitchen, what matters most, and what you want the finished space to feel like. You see the design develop and have the opportunity to shape it before anything is signed off and sent to the workshop.
Do you supply and fit appliances as part of the project?
Yes. Appliances can be specified and supplied as part of your kitchen project. It makes sense to do this as part of the same process because the appliances affect the design, how the kitchen is laid out, where services need to run, and how the cabinetry is configured around them. We discuss this early in the design stage.
I am in Macclesfield but close to the Cheshire border, do you cover this area?
Yes. We work across Macclesfield and the surrounding area, including the rural fringe toward the Pennines and the wider Cheshire region. If you are not sure whether you fall within our working area, just get in touch and we can confirm. Distance is not usually an obstacle.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to get in touch and tell us a little about your home and what you are thinking about. We will arrange a time to come and see the space, have a proper conversation about what you want, and go from there. There is no commitment required at that stage, and no pressure to make decisions quickly.
