Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Wallingford Home

Whether you live in a Georgian riverside townhouse or a family home on the edge of town, your kitchen is designed from scratch around your specific space.

Designed Around Your Home

Designing a kitchen well starts with the room itself. How the light falls, how you move through the space, how it connects to the rest of your home. Layout and proportions come first. The visual decisions, doors, finishes, worktops, follow from that. Getting the fundamentals right is what makes everything else work.

Wallingford has a genuine mix of housing. Georgian riverside townhouses sit alongside Victorian terraces, period properties and larger family detached homes. Each brings its own proportions, its own quirks, its own starting point. Your kitchen is designed to sit within the architecture of your home, not lifted from a template drawn up for a different kind of space entirely.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, walls that cannot move, ceilings that slope: these are resolved at the design stage, not on installation day. By the time your kitchen goes into production, every dimension has been accounted for. The room has been measured precisely and every cabinet designed to fit it exactly as it stands.

Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs your kitchen understands exactly how it will be made, and that connection runs through every stage of the project.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. You can see and feel the difference in how everything sits and moves once it is in place.

The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you rarely look at are built to the same standard as the ones you do. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over many years of use.

Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room calls for an unusual width, a run of cabinetry beneath a sloping ceiling, or anything specific to your space, we design and build it to those exact requirements. Nothing needs to be forced to fit.

Your Wallingford Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish

From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress from different directions. There are no gaps in responsibility, no handoffs between contractors. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds it throughout.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, particularly when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time and working out how to interpret them.

Wallingford homes each bring their own starting point. A Georgian townhouse near the river presents very different challenges from a Victorian terrace or a newer family detached home. Your project is treated on its own terms, designed specifically for your room, not adjusted to fit a programme drawn up for a different kind of house.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything goes into production. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not properly resolved at the design stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the process start?

It starts with a conversation, usually over the phone or by email, where you tell us a little about your home and what you are hoping for. From there, we arrange a visit to see the space properly. We look at the room, talk through how you use it, and begin to understand what the kitchen needs to do. Everything follows from that first visit.

What happens at the design consultation?

We come to your home in Wallingford and spend time in the room with you. We look at the space, the light, the layout, how it connects to the rest of your house. We talk about how you cook, how you use the kitchen day to day, and what is and is not working at the moment. It is a practical conversation, not a presentation. There is no obligation to proceed.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

Bespoke kitchens vary considerably depending on the size of the room, the materials and finishes you choose, the appliances specified, and the level of storage detail involved. A larger kitchen with stone worktops, a full bank of cabinetry and integrated appliances will cost significantly more than a smaller room with a simpler layout. As a starting point, most of our projects sit in the range that reflects a serious, long-term investment in a room that is central to your home. We will give you a clear, detailed quote once we understand your space and what you want from it. The better question is not what kitchens cost in general, but what your kitchen will cost, and that is what we work out together.

Can you work with unusual rooms, awkward layouts, or period features?

Yes, and in Wallingford that comes up regularly. Georgian townhouses and period properties often have chimney breasts, alcoves, uneven walls, or ceiling heights that change across the room. These are resolved at the design stage. Every cabinet is drawn and built to the exact dimensions of your room, so by the time installation begins, everything has been accounted for properly.

What kitchen styles are available?

Because every kitchen is designed individually, there is no fixed catalogue to choose from. That said, some styles suit certain homes particularly well. In-frame cabinetry works beautifully in period properties and Georgian homes. Shaker styles suit a broad range of homes and can be interpreted in many different ways depending on finish and detail. We work through the options with you based on your home and what feels right for the space. You can also get a broader sense of the possibilities by looking at our kitchen styles and finishes pages.

How long does the whole project take?

It depends on the complexity of the design and the current production schedule, but as a general guide you should expect several weeks of design work followed by a manufacturing lead time before installation begins. We will give you a clear timeline once the design is agreed and confirmed. We do not rush the manufacturing stage, because that is where the quality of your kitchen is determined.

How is the kitchen actually made?

Your kitchen is built in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is made to the exact dimensions of your room, factory assembled and finished before it leaves. Nothing arrives as flat-pack components to be put together on site. Factory assembly produces more consistent joints, better tolerances, and a more durable result. You can read more about how we approach quality and manufacturing on our website.

Who carries out the installation?

Our own installation team, the same people who have worked on your project from the beginning. There are no subcontracted fitters arriving on site with no connection to the design. The team installing your kitchen knows the design, knows the room, and knows exactly how everything has been built. That makes a real difference to how the installation goes, particularly in a period property with its own particular features.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes, and having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly valuable in that situation. When your kitchen is part of a wider building project, it needs to be coordinated properly with the structural work, the electrics, the plumbing and the broader timeline. Because we design and make everything ourselves, we can work closely with your architect or contractor from an early stage, supply precise specifications and dimensions when they are needed, and make sure the kitchen fits the finished space exactly as planned. It removes a layer of complexity that often causes problems when the kitchen is being sourced separately from a different supplier.

Do you offer a range of worktop materials?

Yes. Worktop choice is part of the design process and we work through the options with you based on how you use your kitchen, the look you want, and the cabinetry you have chosen. Stone, engineered stone, timber and other materials are all available. The worktop is specified as part of the overall design, not chosen separately from a limited list. You can explore the options on our worktops page.

Can you help with appliance selection?

We can advise on appliances as part of the design process, and we factor them into the layout from the start. The appliances you choose affect the dimensions of the cabinetry around them, so it is important to have them confirmed early rather than trying to accommodate them later. If you already have appliances in mind, we work around those. If you are still deciding, we can talk through what suits the kitchen you are planning.

We are based in Wallingford. Do you cover this area?

Yes. We work regularly across Wallingford and the surrounding area, including south Oxfordshire more broadly. Whether you are in a period townhouse near the river or a family home on the edge of town, we come to you. Getting us into the room is the best way to start, and there is no obligation attached to that first visit.
