110° CLIP top BLUMOTION Standard Hinge
This is Blum's standard cabinet door hinge with integrated soft-close technology. The 110° opening angle suits most overlay cabinet doors up to 26mm thick, making it the workhorse hinge for typical kitchen applications.
Where It Fits
You'll find these hinges on your wall cabinets, base units, and tall storage where doors need to open wide enough for comfortable access. The 110° angle works well in most kitchen layouts, though you might need wider-opening hinges in tight corners or where doors need to clear adjacent units.
How It Works
The soft-close mechanism sits inside the hinge boss rather than being added as a separate component. When you push a door closed, it catches the motion in the final few centimetres and draws it gently to a close. The system adapts automatically to different door weights and closing forces, so a heavy larder door closes as smoothly as a lightweight spice cupboard.
You can deactivate the soft-close feature if needed, which is occasionally useful for very light doors that might not have enough weight to trigger the mechanism properly.
Why It Matters
Beyond the obvious benefit of preventing doors from slamming, the consistent closing action helps protect your cabinet joints and door edges from the stress of repeated impacts. In a busy kitchen, this steady, controlled motion also reduces noise and creates a more refined feel to daily use.
Design Consideration
These hinges work well for most standard applications, but the 110° opening might feel restrictive if you're planning deep cabinets where you need to reach far inside, or in corners where doors might clash. The nickel finish is practical and unobtrusive, though it will be visible when doors are open.
Build Quality
The steel construction includes Blum's three-dimensional adjustment system, allowing fine-tuning in all directions even after installation. The BLUMOTION technology is built into the hinge body rather than added on, which tends to be more reliable over time. Blum backs these with a lifetime guarantee.
Installation Notes
Each hinge requires a separate mounting plate fixed to the cabinet side. The clip-on design means you can remove doors easily for painting or adjustment without disturbing the mounting plate.
Closing Guidance
If your kitchen design calls for standard overlay doors and typical cabinet depths, these hinges will serve you well. Consider wider-opening alternatives if your layout includes tight corners or if you prefer doors that open fully flat against adjacent cabinets.
