TRUSTED BY HOMEOWNERS ACROSS THE REGION
Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Sidmouth Home
Your kitchen needs to be designed properly for your home. Not adapted from a standard range, not adjusted as it goes, but planned from the room itself, so everything works as it should once it is in place. The same team handles your project from the first conversation through to installation, so nothing gets lost between the people designing it and the people building it.

A bespoke kitchen design for a Sidmouth home by Mastercraft Kitchens
Designed Around Your Home
If you are planning a new kitchen in your home in Sidmouth, the starting point is always the room itself. Its layout, its proportions, its quirks. The kitchen is designed around those things, not fitted in around them as an afterthought.
Homes in Sidmouth vary more than most people expect. A Victorian villa behaves very differently to a stone cottage or a contemporary home with an architect-designed extension. Each one has its own set of constraints and possibilities. Your kitchen is designed from scratch around your room, not adapted from something created for a different kind of home altogether.
Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings: these are resolved at the design stage, not on the day of installation. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension has already been accounted for.
The designer who plans your kitchen understands exactly how it will be made. That connection between design and making means the whole project moves forward as one thing, not as separate pieces that have to be reconciled later.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last
Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet arrives on site rigid and factory assembled, not as flat-pack components put together in your kitchen. That matters because factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish than anything built from a kit on the day.
The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you rarely notice are built to the same quality as the ones you do, and that is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over years of use.
Because your kitchen is made in our own workshop, there are no catalogue constraints. If your room needs an unusual cabinet width, a run beneath a sloping ceiling, or a configuration that does not exist in any standard range, it is designed and built exactly as required. The way we manufacture means your space sets the brief, not the other way around.
One Team, from Design to Installation
From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not coordinating trades or chasing progress. There are no handoffs between separate contractors, no gaps in responsibility.
The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. No one arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time.
A stone cottage in Sidmouth brings a very different set of starting conditions to a coastal home with large glazed openings, or a period farmhouse on the edge of town. Each project is treated on its own terms. The process is not adjusted to accommodate your home; it begins with your home. How we work reflects that from the first visit.
Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not fully resolved at the design stage, because those things have already been worked through long before the first cabinet is made.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the whole process take, from first conversation to finished kitchen?
Most kitchens take around three to five months from design to installation, depending on how involved the project is. A straightforward kitchen in a well-defined room tends to move through more quickly. A larger project, or one where the room is being altered as part of a wider renovation, will take longer. We will give you a clear timescale once we understand the scope of your project.
What happens at the first consultation?
We come to your home. That is the most important part. We look at the room, take in the layout, talk through how you use the space and what you need it to do. It is a conversation, not a presentation. By the end of it you will have a clear sense of what the project involves and how we would approach it.
What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?
There is no single answer, and any company that gives you a figure before seeing your room is guessing. The cost depends on the size of the room, the materials and finishes you choose, the appliances, and the level of storage detail involved. What we can say is that a Mastercraft kitchen is a considered investment, designed and made to last for decades, not something to be replaced in ten years. When you speak to us, we can talk through what a project like yours would realistically involve.
Can you work with an unusual room, one with sloping ceilings, chimney breasts or awkward corners?
Yes, and those are often the rooms where bespoke design makes the biggest difference. Because every cabinet is made to your dimensions, unusual features are resolved at the design stage rather than worked around on the day. A sloping ceiling, a deep alcove, a chimney breast that sits off-centre: all of these are accounted for in the drawings before anything is made.
Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?
Yes. Having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful when your kitchen is part of a wider building project. If you are extending, reconfiguring or working with an architect on a larger renovation, we can work alongside that process from an early stage. Because we make everything ourselves, we are not tied to standard lead times from a third-party supplier, which means the kitchen can be planned around your build programme rather than the other way around.
What styles of kitchen can you design?
The range of styles is broad, from classic in-frame cabinetry that suits a period property to handleless designs that work well in a contemporary space. Because nothing is off-the-shelf, the style is shaped around your home and your preferences, not the other way around. We will talk through what would work best for your room at the consultation.
How are the cabinets made and why does it matter?
Every cabinet is made in our own UK workshop and arrives on site fully assembled, not as flat-pack components. That means tighter construction, better tolerances and a more consistent finish throughout. The way a kitchen is built determines how it holds up over years of daily use, which is why this matters as much as how it looks.
Who manages the installation?
Mastercraft handles the installation directly. The team fitting your kitchen is not a separate contractor who receives a set of drawings on the day. They are part of the same team who made the cabinetry and they understand exactly what was designed and why. That is what makes installation straightforward.
Do I need to have my own architect or project manager?
Not for a kitchen project with Mastercraft. The whole project is managed by us, from design through to the day the kitchen is handed over. If you are working with an architect on a wider renovation, we are happy to work alongside them. But you will not be left to coordinate between separate parties or chase things through on your own.
Can you work with specific appliances I have already chosen?
Yes. If you have appliances in mind, or brands you prefer, the kitchen is designed around them from the start. Dimensions, clearances and housing details are all resolved at the design stage. If you would like guidance on appliances, we can help with that too.
Do you only work in Sidmouth, or do you cover the wider area?
We work across East Devon and the wider South West. As well as Sidmouth, we regularly work in Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth and the surrounding areas. If you are unsure whether we cover your location, just ask.
How do I get started?
Arrange a design consultation and we will come to your home, look at the room and talk through your project. That first conversation is where everything begins. There is nothing to prepare in advance.
