Designed Around Your Home
Designing a kitchen well starts with the room itself. Where the light comes from, how you move through the space, how it connects to the rest of the house. We work out the layout and proportions first. Everything else, the style, the materials, the finishes, follows from that. The space sets the agenda.
Wellingborough has a real mix of housing. Victorian semis, inter-war family homes, modern detached houses, each one built to different proportions and with different constraints. The architecture of your home is the starting point for your kitchen design. Your kitchen is drawn around it, not applied over it from a plan that was made for somewhere else.
Alcoves, chimney breasts, ceilings that slope, walls that cannot move: these are resolved at the design stage, not on the day the fitters arrive. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension has been accounted for and every constraint has been designed around. There are no surprises left to work around on site.
Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be built. That connection runs from the first conversation to the day it is handed over to you.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last
Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together in your kitchen on installation day. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. You can see and feel the difference in the finished result. Our approach to quality and manufacturing reflects that at every stage.
The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see most often. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you rarely look at are built to the same standard as the ones you do. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over years of daily use, not just how it looks on the day it goes in.
Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual run width, cabinetry beneath a sloping ceiling, or something specific to your layout, we design and build it to fit exactly. There is no point at which your room has to compromise to suit a standard product.
Your Wellingborough Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish
From the first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress between different companies. There are no handoffs, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because the same team holds it throughout. If you want to understand how the process works in practice, it is straightforward.
The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity matters in practice, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time and working out what to do with them.
Wellingborough homes vary considerably in age and character. A Victorian semi brings different proportions and original details. An inter-war family home has its own typical layout and ceiling height. A modern detached house presents its own starting point. Your project is approached on its own terms, not adjusted to fit a standard programme that was drawn up for a different kind of house.
Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured carefully before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site cuts and adjustments to compensate for things that were not fully resolved at the design and measuring stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a bespoke kitchen project take from start to finish?
It varies depending on the complexity of your kitchen and how busy the schedule is at the time. As a rough guide, you should allow several months from your initial design consultation through to installation being complete. Some projects move faster, others take longer if there are unusual features or if your kitchen is part of a wider building project. We will give you a realistic timeline once we understand what your project involves.
What happens at the first design consultation?
We come to your home, have a look at the space, and talk through what you want from your kitchen. It is a practical conversation, not a presentation. We will ask about how you use the room, what is working and what is not, and what you are hoping to change. From there we can start to build up a picture of what the design needs to do. There is no obligation at this stage.
What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?
It is genuinely difficult to give a single figure because the range is wide. The size of the room, the materials you choose, the appliances, the level of storage detail, the worktops: all of these affect the overall cost significantly. A bespoke kitchen from Mastercraft represents a meaningful investment in your home, and we are transparent about costs from early in the design process. We can talk through what your budget can achieve once we understand the scope of your project. What we will not do is give you a number that becomes misleading once the detail is filled in.
Can you work with awkward rooms, unusual proportions or original features?
Yes, and those kinds of rooms are often where a bespoke approach makes the most difference. Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot move: these are things we design around from the start, not things we try to accommodate after the fact. Because we manufacture to your exact dimensions, your kitchen fits the room as it actually is.
What styles of kitchen do you design and make?
We cover a wide range, from classic shaker kitchens through to contemporary handleless designs and everything in between. The style that makes sense for your home depends on the architecture of your house, the proportions of the room, and your own preferences. We will talk through the options and help you find a direction that suits your home, not just one that looks good in a brochure.
Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?
Yes. Having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful when your kitchen is part of a wider project, such as an extension, a reconfiguration of the ground floor, or a significant renovation. We can work alongside your architect or builder, or we can advise on how the kitchen should inform the wider layout decisions before work begins. Getting the kitchen design right early often affects decisions about where structural openings go, where services run, and how the room is oriented. It is much easier to get those things right at the planning stage than to adapt around them afterwards.
How is the kitchen actually manufactured?
Your kitchen is built in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it reaches your home. We are not delivering flat-pack components to be put together on site. Manufacturing in our own facility means we control the quality throughout and can build to the exact dimensions your room requires, including anything non-standard.
Who carries out the installation?
Our own installation team. The same team that is part of the design and manufacturing process. They arrive knowing your project properly, not seeing your plans for the first time. That continuity means installation runs smoothly and anything specific to your room has already been accounted for.
Do I need to have my own building work or trades organised separately?
Not necessarily. We can advise on what building work your project will need and how it fits around the kitchen design and installation. If your project is more straightforward, we can often manage everything through one process. If it is part of a larger build, we will work with whoever else is involved to make sure things are properly coordinated.
How are worktops handled?
Worktops are part of the overall design and are specified alongside your cabinetry, not chosen separately afterwards. The worktop material has a real effect on how the kitchen looks and how it works day to day, so it is worth thinking about early. We can talk through the options for your kitchen as part of the design process.
Do you come out to Wellingborough for consultations and surveys?
Yes. We come to your home for the initial consultation, for measuring, and for anything else that needs to happen on site. Everything starts with us seeing your space properly. We cover Wellingborough and the surrounding area in Northamptonshire as part of our regular working area.
How do I get started?
Get in touch and we will arrange a time to come and see you. There is no commitment at this stage, just a conversation about your home and what you are looking to do. From there we can give you a clear sense of how the project would work and what it would involve.
