A bespoke kitchen design for a Hessle home by Mastercraft Kitchens
Designed Around Your Home
Designing a kitchen well begins before any decisions about doors or finishes. It begins with how the room sits in your home, where the light falls, how you move through the space, and how it connects to everything around it. Layout and proportions come first. Everything else follows from that.
Hessle has a good range of housing, large detached homes, period semis, and well-built suburban family houses. Each brings its own proportions, its own ceiling heights, its own relationship between the kitchen and the rest of the ground floor. Your kitchen is designed to sit within that architecture, not applied over it.
Alcoves, chimney breasts, walls that cannot move, irregular ceiling lines: these are resolved at the design stage, not on installation day. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is accounted for. Nothing gets worked around on site because someone did not plan for it earlier.
Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be made, which is how it should be.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last
Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. That matters in a kitchen that is designed to last.
The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you do not see are built to the same standard as the ones you do. That is what determines how well your kitchen holds up over time.
Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room calls for an unusual run width, cabinetry beneath a sloping ceiling, or something specific to your layout, we design and build it exactly as required. You can read more about how we approach quality and manufacturing on our site.
Your Hessle Kitchen Project, Handled From Start to Finish
From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating trades or chasing progress. There are no handoffs between separate contractors, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds it from start to finish.
The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. Nobody arrives on site looking at your plans for the first time.
Whether your home is a large detached property off the main roads, a period semi with original features still intact, or a well-proportioned family house, your project starts from what is actually there. It is not adjusted to fit a standard programme drawn up for a different kind of house entirely.
Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not properly accounted for at the design stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the design process begin?
It starts with a visit to your home. We come to you, look at the room properly, and talk through how you use the space and what you want from it. That conversation shapes everything that follows. Nothing is sketched up in a showroom before anyone has seen your kitchen.
What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?
Bespoke kitchens vary considerably depending on the size of the room, the materials and finishes you choose, the appliances specified, and how much detailed storage work is involved. A larger kitchen with hardwood cabinetry, stone worktops, and high-end appliances will sit at a different level to a more compact kitchen with a simpler finish. Rather than quoting a figure that may not reflect your project, the honest answer is that we will give you a clear, detailed cost once we understand exactly what your kitchen involves. What you are investing in is a kitchen built specifically for your home, made to last, with no cutting of corners in how it is put together.
Can you work with rooms that have unusual features or awkward proportions?
Yes, and that is often where bespoke design makes the most difference. Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, columns, irregular wall angles: these are resolved during the design process, not worked around on installation day. Because we manufacture your kitchen ourselves, we are not constrained by standard cabinet sizes.
What styles of kitchen do you design?
We design across a wide range of styles, from classic in-frame kitchens and traditional shaker designs through to clean, handleless layouts. The style you choose should suit your home and the way you live in it, and we will help you work that out during the design process rather than steering you towards a particular look.
How long does a bespoke kitchen project take from start to finish?
It depends on the scope of your project, but as a general guide you should allow several months from the initial design conversation through to completed installation. Design and surveying come first, then manufacturing, then installation. We will give you a clear programme once your project is underway, so you know what to expect and when.
Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?
Yes. If your kitchen is part of a wider building project, such as a rear extension, an open-plan conversion, or a full ground-floor remodel, having design and manufacturing under one roof is genuinely useful. We can work alongside your architect or builder, and because we are involved from the design stage, the kitchen is planned properly within the new space rather than fitted in afterwards. It avoids the coordination problems that come from having separate suppliers working from separate sets of plans.
Who installs the kitchen, and is it the same team throughout?
Yes. Your kitchen is designed, manufactured, and installed by the same team. There are no subcontractors brought in for the fit. The people who install it understand exactly how it was built and what was designed, which makes a practical difference, especially in rooms with specific constraints or unusual features.
How is the cabinetry made?
Every cabinet is made in our own UK workshop and assembled there before it leaves. It arrives on site as a finished, rigid unit, not as flat-pack components to be put together in your home. That approach produces better tolerances, a more consistent finish, and a stronger result overall.
What happens if something needs adjusting after installation?
Because we design, build, and install everything ourselves, there is a single point of contact if anything needs attention after the kitchen is in place. You are not trying to work out which contractor is responsible for what. We stand behind the whole kitchen, start to finish.
Can I choose my own appliances, or do you specify them?
Both are possible. We can advise on appliances that work well with your layout and the way you cook, or we can design around appliances you have already chosen. Either way, appliance placement is resolved during the design stage, so everything integrates properly rather than being fitted around a plan that was drawn without them.
Do I need to visit a showroom?
No. We come to you. The starting point is always your home, not a showroom floor. That said, if you want to see materials, finishes, or cabinetry construction in person at any point during the process, we can arrange that. But it is not how the project begins.
We are in the early stages of thinking about this. Is it too soon to get in touch?
Not at all. Early conversations are often the most useful ones. If you are still working out what you want, or thinking through the scope of the project, a straightforward conversation with us can help you get some clarity. There is no obligation, and nothing needs to be decided before we speak.
