Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Tenterden Home
If you are thinking about a new kitchen in Tenterden, the design begins with your specific home, the room, the light, the way the space works around it.

Designed Around Your Home
Designing a kitchen well starts with how the room sits in your home. Where the light comes from, how you move through the space, how it connects to the rooms around it. Layout and proportions come first. Once those are right, the visual decisions follow from them. That order matters, and it shapes everything that comes after.
Tenterden has a broad range of property types. Weatherboarded and tile-hung period houses, large detached homes along the high street, converted barns and farm buildings, rural Wealden farmhouses out beyond the town. Each one brings its own proportions, its own ceiling heights, its own structural constraints. Your kitchen is designed to sit within the architecture of your home, not applied over it.
Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot be moved, these are resolved during the design process, not worked around on installation day. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is fixed and accounted for. Nothing is left to be figured out on site.
Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The designer who plans your kitchen understands exactly how it will be made and what that requires.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last
Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and fully assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish. That difference shows up in how the kitchen looks and how it holds up over time.
The same standard runs through the whole kitchen, not just the parts you see every day. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and finished to the same level as the doors and worktops. The components you rarely notice are built to the same standard as the ones you look at constantly. That is what determines how well your kitchen performs over years of daily use.
Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual width, a run that follows a sloping ceiling, or something specific to your space, we design and build it exactly as required. The workshop exists to serve the design, not to constrain it.
Your Tenterden Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish
From your first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation, one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress between contractors. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds responsibility for it from beginning to end.
The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a practical difference, particularly when your room has unusual features or constraints that require careful thought. No one arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time.
Tenterden homes come in all kinds of forms. Weatherboarded cottages, large period houses on the high street, converted barns, rural farmhouses in the Weald. Each brings its own starting point. Your project is worked on its own terms, not adjusted to fit a programme that was drawn up for a different kind of property.
Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not properly resolved at the design stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at the initial design consultation?
We come to your home and look at the space properly. That means taking in the room as it actually is, the dimensions, the light, the way it connects to the rest of the house. We will talk through how you use the kitchen, what works at the moment and what does not, and what you want the new kitchen to do. It is a practical conversation, not a sales presentation. There is no obligation at that stage.
What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?
It varies considerably depending on the size of the room, the materials you choose, the appliances you want to include, and the level of detail in the storage. A bespoke kitchen from Mastercraft is a significant investment, most projects fall into a range that reflects the full scope of design, manufacturing and installation. We will give you a clear picture of costs once we understand your project properly. What we would say is that bespoke is not a premium you pay for a label, it is what you pay to have something designed and built specifically for your home, rather than adapted from something that was not.
How long does the whole process take, from first conversation to finished kitchen?
It depends on the complexity of your project, but most kitchens follow a process that runs from initial consultation through design, to manufacturing, and then installation. Once the design is agreed and manufacturing begins, lead times vary by project. We will set out a clear timeline at the start so you know what to expect and when. We do not give vague timescales, you will know where your project is at every stage.
Can you work with unusual rooms, odd shapes, sloping ceilings, chimney breasts?
Yes, and in many Tenterden homes that is exactly what we are working with. Period properties, converted barns and farmhouses often have features that a standard kitchen simply cannot accommodate properly. Because we design and manufacture everything ourselves, we are not limited by catalogue sizes or stock configurations. Unusual rooms are resolved at the design stage, so everything fits exactly as it should when installation begins.
What styles of kitchen can you design?
Because every kitchen is designed from scratch, the style is shaped by your home and your preferences rather than by what we have in a range. We work across everything from kitchens that sit comfortably within period architecture to clean, contemporary designs. The starting point is always your room and how you want to use it. From there, we will guide you through decisions about form, materials and finish that make sense for the space.
How does the manufacturing process work?
Once the design is finalised and your room has been measured precisely, manufacturing begins in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is built rigid and fully assembled before it leaves, not flat-pack components that get put together on site. That approach produces a more consistent, accurate finish. When your kitchen arrives for installation, it is ready to go in exactly as designed.
Who carries out the installation?
Our own installation team, the same people who have been part of the project from the start. They know the design, they know the room, and they know exactly how everything is meant to go together. You are not dealing with a separate contractor who arrives with plans they have never seen before. One team, beginning to end.
Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?
Yes. Having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful when a kitchen is part of a wider building project. If your kitchen is being fitted into a new extension, or you are reconfiguring a large part of your home, having one team that controls design and manufacture means there is no ambiguity about what is being built, to what dimensions, or when it will be ready. We can work alongside architects and builders, and we are used to coordinating around wider construction programmes.
Do you handle worktops and appliances, or just the cabinetry?
We handle the full kitchen, including worktops and the integration of appliances into the design. If you have appliances you want to include, or brands you prefer, we design around them. If you want guidance on appliance selection, we can help with that too. Everything is considered as part of the whole kitchen, not treated as separate decisions bolted on at the end.
Will my kitchen be designed around how I actually use it, or is it mostly about how it looks?
How you use your kitchen drives the design. Storage, workflow, where things are positioned relative to each other, those decisions come first. The way the kitchen looks follows from how it is laid out and how it functions. A kitchen that looks good but does not work well for the way you cook and live in it is not a good kitchen. We start with the practical, and the visual decisions come out of that.
We are in a rural property outside Tenterden, do you cover that area?
Yes. We work across Tenterden and the surrounding Wealden area, including the rural villages and farmhouses beyond the town itself. Many of the properties we work on in this part of Kent are exactly that, converted farm buildings, detached houses set back from the road, properties that take some reaching. That is not a problem, and it does not affect how the project is managed.
How do we get started?
The first step is a conversation. Get in touch and we will arrange a time to come and see your home. We look at the space, talk through what you are hoping to achieve, and begin to understand the scope of the project. There is no obligation at that stage, it is simply the practical place to start.
