About the Role

Mastercraft Kitchens designs and installs bespoke fitted kitchens for private clients across the UK. The quality of our installations is something our clients notice and remember, and our fitters are central to that. We are looking for experienced, multi-skilled kitchen fitters to join our installation network on a full-time or contract basis across the Midlands, North East, North West, South East, South West, and Wales.

This is a role for someone who is genuinely skilled across all aspects of kitchen fitting, takes pride in a clean and precise finish, and understands the care and professionalism required when working in a client’s home.

What the Work Involves

You will be responsible for the full installation of bespoke fitted kitchens at private residential properties across the UK. Projects vary in scale and complexity, and you will be expected to manage your work on site from start to completion, working to our standards at every stage.

Day to day, the role includes:

  • Full kitchen installation including cabinet fitting, worktop templating and cutting, and all associated joinery
  • Butt and scribe worktop joints to a high standard
  • First and second fix carpentry and specialist joinery where required
  • Basic plumbing connections including sinks, waste, and appliance supplies
  • Appliance installation and connection
  • Working alongside other trades including electricians, plasterers, and tilers
  • Keeping a clean, tidy, and respectful work environment in clients’ homes at all times, including the use of dust sheets throughout
  • Arriving on site by 9am and working through to at least 5pm each day until the installation is complete
  • Some weekend work will occasionally be required to meet project deadlines

When working away from home on projects over 70 miles from your base, travel costs and bed and breakfast accommodation are provided.

What We Are Looking For

A minimum of four years of proven kitchen fitting experience is required. We are looking for fitters who can work to an exceptionally high standard independently and who are comfortable managing a full installation from delivery to completion.

You will also need:

  • A valid driving licence and your own vehicle, preferably without signwriting
  • A full set of professional tools
  • The ability to travel to project sites across the UK and work away from home when required
  • A thorough working knowledge of health and safety requirements and correct PPE use on site

Qualifications and Certifications

The following are required or strongly preferred:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bench Joinery, Site Carpentry, or Kitchen Installation (or demonstrable equivalent experience)
  • CSCS card (preferred)
  • Gas Safe registration (a distinct advantage)
  • City and Guilds 2382 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent electrical awareness qualification (a distinct advantage)
  • Any additional qualifications in plastering, tiling, or general building trades will be viewed favourably

Candidates must be able to provide photographic evidence and references from recent projects demonstrating the standard of their work.

CIS and Tax

This role operates under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). You will be responsible for registering with HMRC as a CIS subcontractor if you have not already done so. Payments will be made under standard CIS deduction rates unless you hold gross payment status. It is your responsibility to manage your own tax affairs, National Insurance contributions, and any associated accountancy requirements. If you are unsure about your CIS registration status, we recommend speaking with an accountant familiar with the construction industry before applying.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven ability to fit kitchens to a high finish standard across a range of styles and specifications
  • Strong joinery skills, including worktop joints and scribing
  • A working understanding of domestic plumbing and electrical first fix
  • Good communication skills and a professional, respectful manner when working in clients’ homes
  • The ability to manage your own time and workload on site without supervision
  • A clean, methodical approach to every stage of an installation
