The Blum Libell narrow base pull-out transforms those awkward 150mm and 200mm wide base units into properly usable storage. This is the solution when you have a sliver of space that's too narrow for standard drawers but too valuable to waste.
Where It Fits
You'll typically find this beside your cooker, between appliances, or in those end-of-run spaces where the kitchen layout creates narrow gaps. It works particularly well in galley kitchens or anywhere space is at a premium. The anthracite finish suits contemporary kitchen designs.
How It Works
The system uses a two-stage extension mechanism that pulls the entire frame out from your cabinet, bringing both shelves with it. You can access items from either side once extended. The shelves clip on and off the frame, so you can remove them completely for thorough cleaning.
Why It Matters
Without this system, narrow base units become dark, difficult-to-reach spaces where items get lost at the back. The full extension means you can see and reach everything stored here. The closed shelf bases prevent bottles from tipping over and stop small jars or containers from falling through gaps.
Build Quality
Blum's soft-close mechanism operates on both opening and closing, so the unit draws itself gently back into position. The anthracite powder coating matches the frame, shelves, and runners for a consistent appearance. The system carries up to 15kg across both shelves, which is substantial for such a narrow unit.
Options
The standard unit includes two shelves, though you can add magnetic dividers to create smaller compartments within each shelf. A push-to-open mechanism is available if you're planning handleless cabinet fronts.
Design Consideration
This works best when you have a clear purpose for the storage, such as spices, cleaning supplies, or a collection of oils and vinegars. The narrow format means it's not suitable for larger items, but that's precisely why it excels at organising smaller kitchen essentials that would otherwise clutter your main storage areas.
