Your Kitchen, Designed for Your Sheffield Home

Whether you live in a stone-built Victorian semi in Nether Edge or a large Edwardian house in Hallam, your kitchen is designed from scratch around your specific home.

Designed Around Your Home

Designing a kitchen well starts with the room itself. Where the light comes from, how you move through the space, where it opens onto the garden or connects to a dining area. Layout and proportion come first. Once those decisions are right, everything else follows from them. That order matters.

Sheffield has a wide range of housing, and the architecture of your home sets the starting point for your kitchen. A stone-built Victorian semi in Nether Edge sits very differently to a large Edwardian house in Hallam, a modern city apartment, or a rural property on the edge of the Peak District. Your kitchen is designed to work within that architecture, not applied over it.

Alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, walls that cannot move: these are resolved at the design stage. By the time manufacturing begins, every dimension is fully accounted for. Nothing is left to be worked around on the day installation starts. The room is understood before anything is drawn up, let alone built.

Your kitchen is designed individually, built in our own UK workshop, and installed by the same team throughout. One process, one point of responsibility. The person who designs it understands exactly how it will be made, which means decisions made at the design stage hold through to the finished kitchen.

Crafted Cabinetry, Built to Last

Your kitchen is made in our own UK workshop, built specifically for your home. Every cabinet is rigid and factory assembled before it leaves. These are not flat-pack components put together on site. Factory assembly produces tighter tolerances and a more consistent finish, and that consistency runs through every part of the kitchen, not just the doors and visible surfaces.

The same standard applies throughout, including the parts you rarely see. Drawer runners, hinges, interior fittings: all specified and installed to the same level as the doors and worktops. The parts you open and close every day are where quality either holds or begins to fail. How a kitchen is built is what determines how well it holds up over ten or twenty years.

Because we make your kitchen ourselves, we are not limited to standard sizes or catalogue configurations. If your room needs an unusual width, a run that follows a sloping ceiling, or a configuration that a standard range simply cannot produce, we design and build it exactly as required. The workshop exists to make your kitchen, not someone else’s.

Your Sheffield Kitchen Project, Handled from Start to Finish

From the first conversation through to the day your kitchen is handed over, the whole project sits with Mastercraft. Design, manufacturing, installation: one team, one process. You are not left coordinating separate trades or chasing progress between contractors. There are no handoffs, no gaps in responsibility. Everything moves forward properly because one team holds it throughout.

The designers who plan your kitchen understand exactly how it will be built. The team who builds it knows what was designed and why. That continuity makes a real practical difference, especially when your room has unusual features or specific constraints. No one arrives on site seeing your plans for the first time, wondering what was intended.

Sheffield’s housing means every project starts from a different point. A large Edwardian kitchen in Hallam, a Victorian terrace in Broomhill, a modern apartment in the city centre, a converted farmhouse on the rural fringe: each brings its own proportions and its own set of considerations. Your project is treated on its own terms, not adjusted to fit a programme designed for a different kind of house.

Your cabinetry is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your room, measured precisely before anything is made. When installation begins, everything arrives ready to fit. There are no on-site adjustments to compensate for things that were not properly resolved at the design stage. The room has already been fully understood before a single cabinet is built.

Why Sheffield Homes Work Well with Mastercraft

A kitchen at this level is a significant investment in your home, and the team you choose matters as much as the design itself. Mastercraft is a design and manufacturing practice. We design, build and install your kitchen, and we do all of it ourselves.

  • Designed, made and installed by the same team, with no handovers between separate contractors.
  • No showroom model. Your kitchen is designed around your home, not adapted from a catalogue.
  • Every kitchen drawn from scratch for your specific room and the way you actually use it.
  • Built in our own UK workshop, to the tolerances that a bespoke kitchen requires.
  • Designed and built to last for decades, not to be replaced when fashions change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a bespoke kitchen project take from start to finish?

It varies depending on the complexity of your kitchen and your room, but as a general guide, most projects run over several months from the initial design conversation to the day installation is complete. The design stage takes time to get right, and manufacturing follows once everything is confirmed. We will give you a clear timeline at the outset and keep you informed throughout.

What happens at the first design consultation?

We come to your home and look at the space properly. It is a practical conversation about your room, how you use your kitchen, what works in the current layout and what does not, and what you want the finished kitchen to become. There is no sales presentation. We are there to understand your project, and everything that follows grows from that first visit.

Can you work with rooms that have awkward features, like chimney breasts, alcoves or sloping ceilings?

Yes, and those kinds of features are where a properly bespoke approach makes the biggest difference. Because your kitchen is designed and built specifically for your room, unusual dimensions or structural features are resolved at the design stage. By the time we are on site installing, everything has been accounted for. There are no on-the-day workarounds.

What styles of kitchen can you design?

We work across a wide range of styles, from classic in-frame kitchens that suit the character of an older Sheffield property, to shaker styles, to cleaner handleless designs that work well in more contemporary spaces. Because nothing comes from a fixed catalogue, the style, finish and detail of your kitchen are decided around your home and your own preferences, not around what happens to be in stock.

What does a bespoke kitchen typically cost?

Bespoke kitchens vary considerably depending on the size of your room, the materials you choose, the appliances specified, and the level of storage and interior detail involved. A larger kitchen in a substantial Hallam or Dore property with high-specification worktops and appliances will sit at a very different figure to a more contained kitchen in a Victorian semi. What we can say is that a Mastercraft kitchen is a considered investment, and we will always give you a clear, honest picture of cost before any commitments are made. The best way to get a realistic sense of budget for your specific project is to have that first conversation with us.

Is everything made in the UK?

Yes. Your kitchen is manufactured in our own UK workshop. Every cabinet is built specifically for your home, not drawn from a standard range or assembled from imported components. That is what gives us control over quality throughout, and it is what allows us to build to the exact dimensions your room requires.

Do you manage the whole installation, or do I need to arrange other trades separately?

We manage the process from design through to installation. You are not left coordinating other contractors or filling gaps between different teams. One team holds your project throughout, which means nothing is left to chance and you always know who to speak to.

Do you work on larger renovation projects or extensions?

Yes, and having design and manufacturing under one roof is particularly useful when a kitchen is part of a wider building project. When a kitchen is being designed alongside an extension or a significant remodel, the architecture and the kitchen design need to be considered together from the start. Because we handle everything internally, we can work closely with your architect or builder and make sure the kitchen design and the construction programme are properly aligned. There are no misunderstandings between a kitchen supplier and a separate manufacturing operation, because it is all us.

Can I see examples of kitchens you have designed for Sheffield homes?

We are happy to share relevant examples during your consultation, and to talk you through projects that are similar in character to your own home. Whether you live in a period property in the western suburbs or a more contemporary home elsewhere in the city, we can show you how we have approached comparable spaces.

How precise is the measurement and fitting process?

Your room is measured in full before anything is manufactured. Every dimension is accounted for at the design stage, so when your cabinetry arrives on site it is built to fit your room exactly. That level of precision is only possible because we manufacture to order rather than working from a fixed range of standard sizes.

What worktop materials do you work with?

We work with a wide range of materials including stone, quartz, solid wood, and engineered options. The right choice depends on your kitchen design, how you cook, and the overall character of your home. We talk through the options with you as part of the design process, and the worktop is chosen to work with the cabinetry and the room as a whole, not as a separate decision.

How do I get started?

Get in touch and we will arrange a time to visit your home for an initial conversation. There is no obligation and no pressure. We look at your space, talk through what you are hoping to achieve, and go from there. That first visit is where every Mastercraft kitchen begins.
